JACO COSTA RICA

Over the past 40 years Jacó has become the most popular surf beach town in Costa Rica; due to its easy accessibility from the Metropolitan area of San Jose and Juan Santamaría International Airport. Thanks to the recently built highway it now only takes 45 minutes to an 1 hour and half to get to Jaco from the city.

Jacó is located in the Central Pacific Coast nestled between many National Parks and endless world class beaches. A short 25 minute drive north will land you at Carara National Park and a 50 minutes south, you will find yourself at Manuel Antonio National Park. Jaco offers world class surfing and is the home of the 2016 ISA World Games.

Jacó draws many people, from all over the world, in search for the taste of the jungle. Jacó’s 2 and half mile long beach is great for early morning walks, surrounded by stunning views of lush mountains. Reaching an elevation of 1000′ above sea level the mountains provide a great place to hike, mountain bike, horseback ride, checkout a beautiful waterfall or enjoy unparalleled bird watching. Both house endless species of animals that vary from Capuchin monkeys, toucans, scarlet macaws, anhinga, and well over 200 species of birds, crocodiles, sea turtles, whales, dolphins and many more.

Nighttime Jacó makes for a premier party destination with plenty of fun to be had. “Every night is ladies night.” Ladies can drink free every night of the week at different bars and night clubs. So if you’re looking for the party, ladies night is the place to start. The Pizza Shop is open late and a good spot to people watch. Swell Bar is a popular spot for locals and backpackers and as the night goes on this place can turn into a block party. The Green Room offers delicious drinks and artisan tap beer with live music every night. A local’s favorite, Backyard Bar hosts a local surf competition every Saturday at 4pm and the party goes into the night.

There is delicious food to be had in Jaco. Fine dining and cuisine can be found at Tsunami Sushi, Lemon Zest, Kaya, Graffiti, Ammoncios Italian and Green Room. There are good grocery stores and specialty stores where all the food you need can be found. Convenience stores are called Supers and mom and pop restaurants with delicious local food are called Sodas. As well you will find many Fruterias that offer an abundance of locally grown fruit and vegetables and don’t miss the local farmers market on Fridays till 1pm.
